About This Special Issue
The special issue on crafts and sustainability will focus on regional craft production and sustainability efforts. Craft production, with its eco-friendly structure that met needs in the past, has become an invisible source of income and production, acting as a kind of "smokeless industry" over time. Articles examining crafts within an interdisciplinary sustainability context will be included in the issue. Regional crafts are important as representations of intangible cultural heritage. While prioritizing eco-friendly, traditional, cultural, and tourism economics, the sustainability context will also comprehensively examine and evaluate project proposals for regionally extinct crafts that are being or are planned to be revived. The aim is to highlight the concept of crafts and to present academic studies focusing on handicrafts as a branch of sustainable, portable, intangible cultural heritage. In this context, articles focusing on village handicrafts encompassing agriculture and handicrafts, art and design studies, crafts in history and cultural heritage studies, crafts in economics and tourism studies, sustainable crafts, and crafts and sustainability in the social and humanities disciplines will be accepted.
Accepted article types: Original research articles, review articles, case studies.
This special issue will bring together original articles focusing on universal international crafts and sustainability for the field. This publication will create a resource that explains in which areas the international validity standards included in the theme of sustainability in craftsmanship can achieve their goals. We invite you to offer interdisciplinary perspectives on relevant topics from the perspective of craft sustainability. Your contributions will play a unique role in advancing knowledge in this field.
